History says that the first slot machine was constructed by American mechanic Charles Fey in 1887. There were not many slot machines which were spread between various gambling institutions. In 1907 Charles Fey entered into an agreement with Mills Novelty Company and they started manufacturing a huge amount of slot machines. The first machine named the Mills Liberty Bell. Several years later, the Mills Company designed the very first fruit symbol slot machine called the Operator Bell. The first slot machines were made of cast iron, a heavy metal that was hard to replace from casino to casino. To work out that complexity the first wood cabinet slot machine was created by Mills Company.
